Arriving with a squad of 15 players and a strong pre season behind us Martin and myself were a little confident in starting our season with a win. The weather conditions were good however the pitch needed a good cut and this served to be a challenge for both teams during the course of the first half. The first half was one where we had a good 80% of the possession but just couldn't turn this into goals. We seemed a little over eager to all want the ball and at times we got in each others way along with Tintwistle's enthusiasm to hunt in packs. However the second half was another story.

We changed our formation to three at the back moving Chetty to midfield and giving Taylor a free role just behind Tom and Jack. V. Along with the team listening to what we wanted them to do as a management in letting the ball do the work, pass, move and spread the ball wide the second half was a different game all together. Duffy opened the scoring followed by a quick double from Taylor. Chris. K and Joe. F replaced Jack. S and Tom.

Goals then came from Nathan with Taylor completing his hatrick to make it 5-0. Johnny. S and Ryan. G came on for Jack. V and Chetty, after which more goals flowed in. Duffy scored his second, Chris got on the score sheet and Taylor finished his Man of the Match display with a fourth.

The score line of 8-0 did not flatter our display. It was a fantastic team performance for many reasons. Everyone played a part in the result with Sam. L Gary, Adam and Jack. S solid and reliable at the back, Cluney played a great defensive midfield role allowing Chetty to control all that went forward with great link play from Nathan. Duffy, Jack. V and Tom were full of running and support play with Taylor showing a great eye for goal.

Chris, Joe, Johnny and Ryan all played their part when brought into play.

Monday night's game at newcomers Hopwood Hall should prove to be a tougher test however we can go into the game with some confidence knowing what we are capable of if we play with the right attitude and to the best of our individual and team ability.
