TOWN TEAM SNAP UP CHADDERTON PAIR. The success of Chadderton FC Juniors U14's at the start of their season in the Tameside & District League has caught the attention of the Local Town Team managers who have snapped up 2 of the teams talented players. The successful start of the U14's in the Tameside Junior and District League, where they remain unbeaten after 6 games and are top of their league, attracted the attention of the Town Team management, who sent representatives to watch a recent match against one of the toughest league opponents, Denton Phoenix.
Having never beaten these opponents at 11 a side football the Town Team representatives couldn't have chosen a better game to watch. The Town Team came to run the rule over several of players that they had heard had played a part in the team's current success and they weren't to be disappointed. The game finished 5-3 to Chaddy with a fantastic team performance. However it was the impressive performances of Chaddertons Centre forward Mike Taylor and centre half, Sam Chetwynd's, that caught the eye of the Town Team representative. Both players were invited to attend a training / trial night where they were both selected for this season's Town team squad. Unfortunately, the Town team games clash with the U14's but following discussions between the players parents and the U14 management team it was agreed that the opportunity was too good to turn down and both players made the difficult decision to join the Town team. Both players have indicated that it is their intention to continue to be involved with the U14s and would attend training and any Saturday games for which they were available. Both players attend South Chadderton and offer different roles to the team. U14s Manager Leland Mayall said, "Mike Taylor has had a storming start to his first season as a Chaddy player. When I first saw him he came as a defensive midfielder but when I saw the shot he had on him I thought I'm trying him upfront. He hasn't let us down, 15 goals in 5 games speaks for itself." "Chetty (Sam Chetwynd) however has been at Chaddy since this group of lads started back as U8's. He is a class centre half and I would put him up against any forward in this league....except maybe Mike.....? Now that would be interesting." Both players would be a loss to any team, however Leland is fortunate to have a strong talented squad and is hopefully that the team can continue their great start to the season. Chadderton FC Juniors wishes both players every success with the Town team and we look forward to following their progress. |
