Well this game was always going to be a physical and mental challenge against a team that try’s to disrupt your style of play, which in our case has always been to play football.

I also believe that if Mossley had played both the Brenden Bees and Medlock teams we’ve had to play in the league the title would already be ours. We’ve certainly never played against an under strength team all season.

So onto the game itself. We started very well with us pressing Medlock back and looking lively on and off the ball and it was no surprise that we took the lead through that man Mike Taylor on the 10 minute mark. A neat bit of football found Taylor on the edge of the Medlock box where he steadied himself to hit a hard low shot into the bottom corner of the net 1-0

Then the problems started. We started getting too involved with the referring decisions to a level that we were disputing the out and out correct decisions along with also getting involved with Medlock and their scrappy side of football…which I might add they do well. The biggest disappointment was that we started to make all our own decisions rather than listen to the management, this caused allsorts of problems and it was no surprise that we then conceded two goals in 10 minutes to go 2-1 down.

When we did play the football however we opened up Medlock and created chances. Tom Shaw equalised for us with a well taken goal and then just before the half time whistle Jack Beasley smashed a shot against the cross bar. Half time 2-2

Half time talk was a reminder of who the management was and that the team needed to listen to our instructions as well as play the football we have played all season.

Second half was a credit to what this team is capable of. We played as a team, worked as a team and played football as it should….and we stayed off the ref’s back too. We battered the Medlock goal and other than some very good goalkeeping and better finishing we should have scored 2-3 goals. Sam Lambert made one very good save but that apart 80% of the play was in the Medlock half.

Full time 2-2. Two points dropped????? We’ll soon know!

Nathan Mayall was named MOM for some wonderful inter changing football and support play on the left wing.

The league is still in our hands and on this second half performance should well see us champions?
