TEAM: SAM. L GARY SAM.C ADAM NATHAN USSY JACK MICHAEL CALLUM MIKE. T TOM SHAW SUBS: CHRIS, TOM SHACK, JOE, I have always enjoyed our encounters with Denton Youth, first of all because I have a lot of respect for their management (Daniel) and two because the games have been closely contested. That said with us raising the bar last season we saw us run out comfortable winners in both games. This season we start anew meaning every game needs to be treated like a cup final and lads you didn’t let us down. From start to finish a very good Denton Youth team was not allowed to play to their potential because we played to ours. Our back five today were mean as hell……the US army wouldn’t have got through us today….such was their performance, especially Sam Chett, against two very good strikers. Midfield ran the show, winning the first and second ball and then linking up well with our forwards. The forwards continued to work the line exceptionally and were always showing. Our first goal had a bit of fortune about it but was it was still on the cards when Callum raced down the left into the penalty box, just when you thought he had took it too far he pulled the ball back for it to rebound off Tom Shaw and nestle into the Denton goal….1-0. This was then followed by the Mike Taylor goal show although a lot of credit must also go to his team mates for creating opportunities for him. Mike’s first two were typical Taylor goals however his third was shear class and a contender for goal of the season. Jack Beasley found space in the middle of the park and he played a long ball down the right hand side that caught the Denton defenders off guard. Tom Shaw picked the ball up and his second touch saw him play a delightful far post ball, which was met by Taylor 15 yards out. ‘T’ hit a thunderous right foot volley into the top right hand corner of the Denton Youth goal….4-0…..class! This goal had the hallmarks of a training routine we practice. Half time 4-0 Second half saw us make changes but this didn’t upset our play and control of the game. Mike added his fourth by skipping past two defenders and then placing a very nice low shot into the goal…5-0 The sixth came from Taylor collecting the ball on the far right hand by line. He powered the ball across the Denton goal and found Nathan Mayall who hammered a lovely right foot volley into the bottom corner of the Denton net…..reminded me of his father?Final score 6-0. Another fantastic team performance…attitude, work, ability was shown in abundance……keep it up lads! Dave Knight MOM: Sam Chetwynd was colossal in all the above. Under a difficult start he did EVERYTHING his manager asked of him. If he continues to play like he did today…he’d be the best defender in the world…..that’s the attitude Sam that will get you everywhere…well done.
