When we arrived at Northside we had a number of players missing. The number was so bad that we actually kicked off and played 10 minutes with 10 men. To everyone’s credit we actually played well against a very fast team. Northside did pepper the goal and should have been in front but we defended extremely well and Jake pulled off some amazing saves. In fact their manager was heard to say ‘That goalie is having a stormer’. And he was. But so were Sean, Danny, Sam, Reece and Dillan who all defended like Trojans and covered back extremely well. Ironically we were playing well. We harassed them, closing them down and seemed to be going well. We could have even taken the lead when Danny shot just over after good attacking play. And this we did sporadically throughout the match. Manager’s man of the match Dillan, man of the match Thomas and Darius were outstanding at times going forward and never gave up the fight. Danny also showed up well in attack. In defence, Dillan, Jordan and Sean worked extremely hard and made some very good covering tackles, especially in the second half to keep the score down to 3-0. Well done boys.We did try hard but had some key players missing, none more so than Stephen who was sadly missed following his recent performances. The little man left a big hole today. Still we didn’t deserve to lose by such a big score.
