On the 9th September we played Hollingworth at home and had a goalfest.Mikey scored within the first 3 minutes after a brilliant combination from a corner kick. Danny passed to Sean who delivered a fantastic looping ball over for Mikey. James then made it 2-0 when he pounced to score after the keeper had spilled the ball following a good shot from Ryan.James quickly got his second. The keeper managed to get his hands to a cross but couldn’t collect. It landed on James’ head for a simple nod into the net.His hat trick came quickly. Ryan shot. The keeper couldn’t get to it. It rebounded off the crossbar straight to James to again head in. What a little poacher he is. Just what was missing last season.5-0 showed the other aspect to our scoring. It is great that we have James because we need someone to pounce on loose balls. Last season we missed a deluge of these opportunities but another feature of this team is the speed and the passing. It is also good that we are not relying on one person to score. The goals are coming not only from James but right across midfield. For 5-0 the move started with Mikey who took the ball down the wing. He took the defender on, rounded him and floated the ball across the pitch to Danny who scored from outside the area with a fantastic bullet shot right into the bottom corner. A great goal.Provider turned scorer for number six. Mikey again took his man on down the wing, lost him, then shot with a wonderful looping shot over the keeper from the edge of the area. Another great goal.He then came so close to his hat trick. Danny took on his man, took the ball into the corner and fired a cross across goal which Mikey missed by inches as he came sliding in. Just a fraction too fast.Danny scored a penalty for number 7 after Mikey and Liam worked well to get the ball into the area. Mikey again worked well for number 8. Good work by him led to a pass to Reece to tap over the keeper. Second goal in first two games!Danny scored his hat trick with number 9. Ryan worked hard, showing his determination down the wing before he managed to get into the corner. He crossed the ball across the area to Danny who fired in from the edge. Great play by Ryan and a great ball!Liam then got in on the act with a superb goal. He ran from the half way line and just somehow kept going despite several challenges. He ran and ran and shot over the keeper. A super goal showing strength, skill and determination.All played well today. It was nice to see the confidence and comfortable passing and movement. They are working well as a team. A great team performance today. That is why it is difficult and unfair to single anyone out but Mikey won both man of the match awards; he was outstanding. He and Ryan ruled the show today with help from Danny and Liam – but all played a big part and played very well.
