On the 13th September we played AFC Clayton. WE scored early in the match. Stephen made a shot which rebounded off the keeper to James, who shot from outside the area.Following this we had lots of chances. Good passing meant we were running them ragged with good football. Danny, Stephen, James, Ryan, Mikey all looked comfortable on the ball coming forward. Man of the match, Jake was confident in net, making a brave collection of balls when boots were flying in, but further forward we were great. James and Stephen in particular played well. James consistently put some cracking balls through for his partner.Ryan made the game 2-0. Warren took a brilliant free kick. The keeper spilled. Ryan had thought quickly and had chased the ball in. He tapped the ball into the net. Not the most glamorous goal we will see from this young man but brilliant for his awareness and quick thinking.Ben made it 3. He had a brilliant game and deserved the manager’s man of the match. He was everywhere, making good clearances at the back and tackling and tracking back to help out. He even saved a certain goal with a header off the line with three players on him. Brilliant! For his goal he collected a super ball from Danny, he then drew the keeper and slotted it into the bottom corner.The downside to this match was that we let in two soft goals by marking poorly at two corners. They should never have gone in. We need to work on this. We were completely in control. We had chances at the front and nothing was getting through at the back – until those corners.At the front James was very un lucky not to score. He hit the bar and put the ball wide a couple of times. And what can be said about Darius? I would have put my house on him scoring his attempt. Such is life. And after all a win is a win. Next time Daz!
