On the 4th October we played Mossley in the cup and were very disappointing. We started off badly when Warren had to cover in the net and he got caught when the ball rolled between his legs. We should have known then it was not going to be our day. But we weren’t playing any fraction like we played last week. We were losing every 50/50 ball, every header and were over playing with the ball. It wasn’t until we were 5- 0 down that we started playing. And now we have the positives. We didn’t let our heads drop. We seemed determined not to get a battering and with a bit of luck could have won. We played the better football and it was all at their end in the second half – and their keeper made some very good saves. Ashley scored both our goals today. The first was after super play by Ryan. He passed to Darius who made a super run down the wing and passed to James. He made a super cross to Ashley who sized up the keeper and slotted the ball past him into the bottom corner. The second goal came from a great kick from Ben. Ashley latched onto it, took it on and slammed it past the keeper. Shortly after Ryan unleashed one of his specials which was saved by the keeper. 9 times out of 10 he would have scored. If he had it would have put us right back in it and I think we would have gone on to win. We were unlucky and had many chances. Ashley looked strong and dangerous, especially when he got fired up – as we all were in the second half. Sean, T.J. and Stephen were playing well, as were James, Danny and Mikey who were playing good football. Ryan, again, was putting good balls through and making chances. Manager’s man of the match, Mikey and man of the match Ben were outstanding and T.J. also deserves a mention. He was brilliant again today. Danny, Ryan, James and Ashley also stood out – and what about Sean? What a tackle he did in the closing minutes. That summed up nthe spirit of the second half. We showed them that we are Chaddy and we won’t be made fools of. We battered them in the second half. We decided to fight back, had pride and stepped up a gear. I think we missed Ben in midfield today but Mikey did a sterling job in the second half. He ran himself ragged determined to show them our fighting spirit – just like Sean did with that tackle!
