Chadderton FC U8’s A 1 – 0 Springhead AFC
With no league game this week we again managed to arrange a game in the Bowlee mini soccer league and were matched up to play the strongest side in this league which again was Springhead. The game was 7 aside and played on an older style Astroturf which led to the ball running very quick and the surface punishing anyone who slide tackled. The pitch was very narrow which also made things a lot more difficult as we could not use any width which is one of our big benefits.
In an even game both teams could have won this one with Springhead having some good chances and ourselves also creating chances. In the end the difference came from just one goal scored by Conner midway through the game. We could have had more as we created several chances but they were either saved or blocked on the line. However one did cross the line but wasn’t given and we should have had a penalty for hand ball which would have made the result 2 or 3 nil to us.
A good game played by 2 good teams but I felt our passing game was not as good today and too many player chose to run with the ball when the better option was the pass. We must get back to our passing game and again trust each other and not complain. If you moan at a player he responds badly. If you encourage he responds positively and that is what the team needs to continue the improvements so far this season.
Chadderton FC U8’s B 5 – 0 Harpurhey AFC
A few surprised faces today on the lads at the start of this game. Daniel kept grinning and Zack needed to use his hat to its most menacing effect yet. The game was a 20 minute game and the team performed well for the last game this year and run out comfortable winners with goals from Michael, Daniel, and Arman.
The lads camped out in Harpurheys half with Zack and Raheem pushing up to the halfway line and beyond and Ubiada and Adam joining the attack with Adam very unlucky not to score. The score could have been higher but like the A team we did not pass the ball when we should have and instead chose the more difficult option of trying to take on the whole team single handidly.
Well played lads and a winning end to 2009. Lets now look forward to 2010.
