On the 27th March we played Royton Town and absolutely ripped them apart. The score flattered them as we could have easily had double figures.

Liam started the rout as he stormed through the middle and passed to Mikey who took a shot from the right side of the area to score the first goal. This was sweet as he hasn’t scored in a while. He must have savoured this one. What a time to score!

Ashley scored the second after brilliant play by Ndaba and Darius. Ndaba started the move near the box. He passed to Darius who continued the move down the wing before offloading to Mikey. He crossed it into Ashley who chipped the keeper.

Ashley’s second was another great goal. This time James did the hard work. He held the ball up beautifully and waited until Ashley was in the perfect position. It was a super pass and great play.

Then Darius got in on the act. His strike rate on a Saturday is quite impressive. A well taken corner hit the crossbar, bounced down for James who hit a shot, the keeper saved but it rebounded across to the other side of goal where Darius was lurking for the easiest goal he will ever score. A nice tap into the bottom corner.

The next meant hat trick time for Ashley. He is scoring these quite regularly now. He is in potent form at present.  A great ball was passed up to Darius who took the ball on up the wing. He shot. The keeper saved and the rebound came out for Ashley to slot home.

Our sixth was Mikey’s second. This time Darius put in a fabulous run up the wing after again being fed by Ndaba. He then put in a sensational cross over the top and across field into the box. It was a perfect piece of football. The ball landed ideally for Mikey to connect with and he slammed in the net. An absolutely sensational goal!

If that was sensational I don’t know how to describe the next – as incredibly it was better!

A sublime, perfect piece of play.

Ndaba to Darius – up the wing – same pattern again. Darius then passed a fantastic ball over into the area – almost a carbon copy of earlier move – This landed again for Mikey who passed on to Ashley who slammed first time on the volley into the net. Brilliant!

James finished the scoring – and everyone heaved a sigh of relief as he deserved one. He had had a hatful of chances but Zak saved every time. This time there was no one saving!

Guess the pattern of play?

Ndaba to Darius. He took the ball up the wing and passed a super pass in field to James to score.

There was no surprise when Darius was named as the man of the match. He was absolutely awesome. He ripped Royton apart. They simply had no answer to his speed and skill. He dominated midfield both in the centre and on the wing. He struck a superb partnership with Ndaba who was also brilliant today. He fed him well all match with nice passes and flicks. Ndaba also was too fast for the Royton defence. He left his man for dead every time, skipping round him with no problem at all. On  a big pitch which was surprisingly firm all the wide players had a field day. Darius, Ndaba and Mikey all were outstanding. Mikey against his old team showed them what they were missing as he flew down the right wing. All three were brilliant. But they were fed well by Liam and Sam in midfield who both put some good balls out and by Paul, Connor and Sean at the back. These three also had solid games in both attack and defence. And even though well on top were still determined not to let any in at that end. This was epitomized by Sean’s intelligence and determination to shield a player and use strength to allow Connor to clear. Brilliant thinking!

Up front, Ashley and James were in tremendous form and relished the chances given by midfield. We were rampant and this showed by Ashley scoring four goals and James 1 – and both had chances to score more – so dominant were we today. Both strikers were much too pacy for the defence. Plus James’ hold up play was again superb, particularly for the goal he made for Ashley when he waited and waited until he was ready for the offload. In short a fantastic team performance played at pace and a wonderful display of attacking, passing football.
